Have Cake and a Cuppa for Rehab!
Rehab today launched its fourth annual national fundraising appeal 1 Day for Rehab with a tea party! Sponsored by Covidien, a leading global provider of healthcare products, 1 Day for Rehab takes place on Friday 14 June. This year people throughout Ireland are being asked to enjoy afternoon tea to help raise money to enhance services provided by Rehab.
Rehab’s services include resource centres, residential and supported accommodation services, respite care, outreach and home-based services. Rehab works every day, 365 days a year, to support the more than 8,000 people with disabilities and others who are marginalised in Ireland to achieve their goals and maximise their potential
John McGuire, Director of Fundraising, Rehab, said, “On 1 Day for Rehab, we are asking people to acknowledge in some small way the contribution that Rehab makes in communities. By undertaking their own fundraising effort, people can support the development of local Rehab services for young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury.
They can invite friends around for cake and a cuppa, host a bake sale, organise a sponsored walk or come up with their own exciting fundraising idea! These are just some of many fundraising ideas that people can do to raise money for Rehab services in their communities, with all funds raised at local events staying locally.”
Mr Donal Balfe, Vice President, Manufacturing, Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions at Covidien, said, “Advancing health and well-being in communities where we live and work is core to our values as a company and as an employer. Covidien is delighted to once again work in partnership with Rehab to boost awareness of the organisation’s extremely valuable activities across Ireland. Helping Rehab to enhance its support for those people with disabilities and others who are marginalised is an extremely worthwhile undertaking for us. We look forward now to 1 Day for Rehab and the activities in June.”
Covidien is supporting 1 Day for Rehab by making a direct financial contribution and hosting fundraisers at its Irish campuses, where the company has more than 1,500 employees, in Cherrywood, South County Dublin, Tullamore,
Galway and Athlone.
